LA CAVE DE L’INSOLITE, UNUSUAL BUT WONDERFUL

Categories : Eating, published on : 3/23/14

With a name that translates as The Cave Of The Unusual, this wine bar and bistro opened in 2011 by Arnaud and Axel Baraquin promises to be full of surprises, and is; beginning with a menu that changes each day. Offering inventive cuisine prepared with fresh and seasonal products, La Cave de L’Insolite revels in an ambience as spontaneous as the two brothers who own it. There’s a classic, rustic look, burning logs crackling in the stove in the corner, antique artefacts, wide host tables, pans rattling in the kitchen and a warm and friendly welcome. Savour the flavours of asparagus from the south of France, oven roasted porchetta, seared Merlu fish, fresh mozzarella with olive oil, goat cheese and beetroot salad with green apple and chocolate fondant with lemon zest. The well-stocked wine shelves boast over 120 reasonably priced vintages which all derive from small vineyards where the grapes are picked by hand.
