Au vase de Delft, looking for a unique jewel
Previously established on the rue Cambon, Au Vase de Delft is reborn in lush new splendour in the rue du Marché Saint Honoré. Ideally situated between the Tuileries gardens and the Opera House, this curio cabinet continues the family tradition of expertise in antiques, jewellery, collectibles and curios. Here you can discover beautiful and highly sought after vintage Cartier, Hermès, Chanel, Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels and many other legendary names. This family business dates from 1910 and the beautiful Art Deco Windows have been carefully preserved since the company’s inception. Cameos and enamels from the 18th and 19th centuries, silverware, watches, perfume bottles and various accessories from throughout the broad sweep of history. So many exquisite pieces have passed through the hands of the family and been purchased that it is dizzying to contemplate. The story goes that entry was once refused to a man clad in jeans and sneakers, until he was recognised, at which point he was sheepishly allowed in. Later, Mick Jagger left the shop with a fully articulated bracelet snake in enamelled gold and set with diamonds! But whether you are a rock star or not, you are advised to drop by and admire, perhaps even covet and purchase, but you will find it all fascinating nonetheless. JR.
