La Philharmonie de Paris, an architectural symphony without false notes
An architectural tour de force, this incredible major new music complex located in the Parc de la Villette was designed by Jean Nouvel to immerse the audience intimately in space and music whilst ensuring unprecedented listening quality. Situated next to the current Cité de la Musique, which was built by Christian de Portzamparc, this new building is much more than a place of live music. Eclectic programming is very much the theme. The first season, which began on January 14th, sets the tone between original shows and prestige concerts, family weekends and hands-on experiences. With a seating capacity of 2,400, La Philharmonie de Paris has already become one of the most vibrant and exciting places to hear music in any country. It’s the envy of the world. JR.
