L’Aumôniere de Bacchus, the bistro of today
At the heart of one of the old industrial areas of the city, opposite the famous Cour de l’Industrie, L’Aumônière de Bacchus (the Chaplain of Bacchus) has maintained the ambience of this popular neighbourhood. The décor of this wine bar and bistro is a pleasing mix of Baroque and contemporary, lending the bistro an intimate atmosphere heightened by the soft velvet furnishings and discrete lighting. The industrial minimalism is softened by the play of light, a general warmth and a welcoming feel. There’s a large wooden bar, and a terrace ideal for relaxing where you can sip wine on sunny days. In the kitchen Jan Liu, trained by the greatest chefs, offers his specials on large blackboards; inventive suggestions with ingredients changing with the seasons. Foie gras, tuna tartare with fresh salmon and herbs flavoured with wasabi, crème brûlée with artichokes and pickled vegetables, panna cotta with lavender and red fruits. Once the doors are open the bistro becomes quite busy, such is its popularity. L’Aumônière de Bacchus offers an appointment for dinner not to be missed and is not far from the Hotel Fabric. JR.
