Les fées mélanc(h)olia, a Longing For Beautiful Things
Once upon a time, Sylvie Aubry, a noted Parisian florist and the founder of the Fées d’Herbe and the Bazar des Fées in Mortagne au Perche, created Les Fées Mélanc(h)olia (Fairies Melanc(h)olia), a magical cabinet of Parisian curiosities. This designer of the floral arrangements for the Hotels Crillon and Meurice, and her daughter, both passionate people who love the objects, lighting and vintage furniture from the 50s, 60s and 70s, have a place here to enchant lovers of the creativity of yesteryear. Amongst their favourite pieces are those by designers such as Matégot Mathieu, Jacques Hitier and Charlotte Perriand, ceramics from the finest shops in Vallauris, Alsace, Normandy and Brittany, and pictures close to the reveries of the Brothers Grimm or Perrault, all artfully arranged. This is a place of exquisite and poignant melancholic charm. The kind of place where wishes could come true. JR.
