The Bulk Garden / Garden in Stock at the Docks of the City of Fashion and Design
An evolutionary green installation created by the landscape artist Christophe Ponceau has invaded the Docks! Presented as a micro-forest of Gingko Biloba, the tree that survived the nuclear devastation of Hiroshima, this ephemeral landscape stretches down to the Seine, representing its creator’s ruminations regarding the role of the plant world in today’s society. Gathered under what is effectively a baroque chandelier, it stands as a remarkable tribute to nature in peril, but also celebrates the remarkable ability of flora to survive and adapt, as well as being a nod to the first use of the docks as a transit space and storage area for goods in passage. This verdant valley on the banks of the Seine offers a fascinating conceptual journey. JR.
