The new Parfums Frédéric Malle boutique
For his new Parisian boutique, the perfume editor Frédéric Malle called on the talents of the architects Jakob + Macfarlane, who among other notable projects designed the Cité de la Mode et du Design and the Georges restaurant in the Pompidou Centre. In this shop conceived as a grid slipped inside a venerable old building in the Marais, the relationship between the soul and the imagination can expand, carried by the specially designed scents, to fill every corner. Like a cross fertilisation between a gallery and an art installation, a series of mysterious islands comprised of shelves, tables and refrigerated cabinets stimulates the senses. Here we can sit, look, talk, and be listened to. Working just as an editor works with writers, Frédéric Malle gives perfumers carte blanche to create their dream fragrances, and he displays their names clearly on the packaging, placing their olfactory talents front and centre.
