Good fishing in the new Sea Bar at the Aligre market

Categories : Eating, published on : 10/22/15

In the trendy Aligre market, the oldest in Paris, it’s all aboard for a delicious experience in a restaurant reminiscent of the cabin of a boat. Here, amidst the ambience of a sea-side holiday, everything breathes fresh air. There’s the pool of lobsters, the écailler behind the counter preparing fabulous looking seafood platters and the servers clad in the striped sweaters of sailors. On the heated terrace or around the table, you can enjoy organic shrimp dishes, Gilthead sea bream carpaccio, marinated octopus, smoked Scottish salmon, steamed langoustine and a sensational fish soup. The shellfish and other seafood is purchased every night from the Rungis International Food Market and also directly from French oyster farmers and fishermen by the owner, who comes from four generations of fishmongers. It’s all so good that it’s difficult to weigh anchor, leave this harbour and set sail again! JR.
