Monet-Mitchell, the double exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton

Categories : Exhibition, published on : 11/18/22

The Fondation Louis Vuitton presents a unique dialogue between two exceptional artists from two different eras and artistic movements: Claude Monet and Joan Mitchell
On the one hand, the works of Claude Monet, a leading artist of French Impressionism at the end of the 19th century, and on the other hand those of Joan Mitchell, a painter belonging to the abstract expressionist movement of the 20th century, will give you a very broad vision of artistic creation.
The selection of works will allow visitors to admire the different visions and sensibilities of the two artists in front of a natural landscape.
Monet's famous Water Lilies are honored, as are the works created by Joan Mitchell in the studio of the tower in Vétheuil.
Twenty-five of Monet's major canvases will dialogue with twenty-four paintings by Mitchell. You will be surprised to discover how similar abstract and impressionist art can be despite their different cultural contexts.

To allow the public to discover the work of Joan Mitchell, the exhibition "Joan Mitchell Retrospective" will introduce this double exhibition.

Through 2/27/23. Open daily except Tuesday, Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
