Categories : Lifestyle, published on : 7/7/25
If you're planning to spend the summer in Paris, Paris Plages is the perfect event to fully enjoy the season! Since 2002, this annual summer initiative has transformed the banks of the Seine into seaside-style spaces with relaxation areas, cultural activities, and more recently, supervised swimming spots in the river itself.
Staying at Hotel Fabric, in the heart of the 11th arrondissement, puts you in the ideal location to experience it all. Close to the Canal Saint-Martin and easily connected to the Seine and other major sites, you'll have everything you need for a refreshing Parisian summer.
New for 2025: Dive into the Seine
From July 5 to August 31, three designated spots in Paris will offer supervised swimming areas directly in the Seine.
Bras Marie – Central Paris
Set between Île Saint-Louis and the Pont de Sully, this swimming area is just steps away from Paris Plages festivities. Access is limited to swimmers aged 14 and over, who are at least 1.40 meters tall and able to swim. A flotation device is required and provided on-site. The site has a maximum capacity of 150 people and includes showers, toilets, lockers, and a sunny seating area. There are no private changing cabins, so it’s best to arrive ready to swim.
Quai de Bercy – 12th/13th Arrondissement
Located across from the National Library of France, this is the largest Seine swimming site in Paris this year. It features two large pools and a sun deck installed in renovated containers. Swimmers must be at least 10 years old and 1.20 meters tall. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, with a limit of three children per adult. The site can welcome up to 700 people, including 300 in the water. Lockers, showers, toilets, and changing facilities are available. Please note: only the sun deck is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
Bras de Grenelle – 15th Arrondissement
With stunning views of the Eiffel Tower and Île aux Cygnes, this site is ideal for families. It offers a shallow family pool accessible from age 3 (with an accompanying adult) and a deeper swimming zone for those aged 14 and up who meet the swimming and height requirements. Flotation devices are required and provided. The site can accommodate up to 200 visitors, including 150 in the water, and also features a small nautical base with kayaks, plus showers, lockers, toilets, and areas to relax by the river.
All sites are free and open daily, depending on water quality, current conditions, and weather. Any unexpected closures are announced on-site or via the official City of Paris website.
