Tales of courage and chivalry at the Museum of the Legion of Honour

Categories : Lifestyle, published on : 9/20/17

Here is a museum that contains exceptional objects that bear witness to the values symbolised by orders and decorations throughout history.

Behind them all is an historical epic and a human adventure. In this unique place devoted to the orders of chivalry, decorations and medals, the history of France and the world is reflected via displays and audio-visual terminals.

Honour, merit and good citizenship are highlighted through the examples of the emblematic men and women whose insignia fill the halls. Inspired by the success of the exhibition La Légion d’Honneur et les Décorations Française shown at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in 1911, the museum became an international reference thanks to the donation of the collection of the world’s greatest collector of orders and decorations, the Italian Antonio Benedetto Spada.
