Bastille Day, July 14, 2026, in Paris
July 14, France's National Day, remains one of the most anticipated dates of the year. This 2026 edition carries a particular significance: the fireworks display, usually held on the evening of the 14th, will exceptionally take place the night before, Monday, July 13. The City of Paris made this choice in tribute to the victims of the July 14, 2016 Nice attack, marking its tenth anniversary this year.
The July 14 Military Parade
The military parade will take place as every year on Avenue des Champs-Élysées, between Place Charles-de-Gaulle and Place de la Concorde. The 2026 edition is themed around "Europe's Strategic Wake-Up Call," set against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine and the continent's defence challenges. Thirty-five nations from the Coalition of the Willing will take part, alongside representatives from the European Union and NATO. The French Navy, celebrating its 400th anniversary, will be honoured at the close of the parade, followed by a performance of the European anthem. Around 8,500 participants, 300 vehicles, roughly a hundred aircraft and 35 helicopters are expected, in what also marks Emmanuel Macron's tenth and final parade as President of the Republic.
Fireworks and the Concert de Paris
On the evening of Monday, July 13, the Concert de Paris will be held at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, bringing together leading names in opera and classical music. It will be followed by the traditional fireworks display, lighting up the Paris sky in an atmosphere that is both festive and, this year, marked by remembrance.
Firefighters' Balls
The traditional firefighters' balls will take place in fire stations across Paris, giving Parisians and visitors the chance to dance and celebrate into the early hours.
Accessibility and Comfort
Designated areas for people with reduced mobility will allow everyone to enjoy the spectacle. Large screens will also be set up in several public areas so more people can watch the fireworks, even from a distance.
