Mother's Day is just around the corner and you're looking for a truly memorable idea? This Sunday, 31st May, forget the last-minute bunch of flowers and the hastily booked dinner. This year, give your mum the very best: a day in Paris, in one of the capital's most vibrant neighbourhoods. From Hôtel Fabric, nestled in the heart of the 11th arrondissement, everything is just a stone's throw away. Discover our gift ideas!
How about treating Mum to a stay in Paris for Mother's Day?
Not the Paris of grand boulevards and endless queues, the neighbourhood Paris, the one with bistros beside the water and shops run by passionate locals. That is precisely the spirit of Hôtel Fabric, set on Rue de la Folie Méricourt, in the 11th arrondissement where local life and Parisian creativity come together.
Our favourite spots for Mother's Day
Les Filles d'à Côté – The floral workshop that changes everything
Rather than simply buying a bouquet, why not arrange one together? Les Filles d'à Côté is a delightful florist's shop in the 11th arrondissement, run by Maud and Camille, two women who left their former careers to pursue their passion for floral art. Rainbow ceiling, seasonal French flowers, and a wonderful atmosphere guaranteed.
The real gem of the place is their DIY workshops: fresh flower bouquets, dried wreaths, terrariums… The bouquet workshop is ideal for Mother's Day — you choose your flowers, arrange them, wrap them up, and head home with a genuine sense of creative pride.
77 Rue du Chemin Vert, Paris 11th. Tuesday to Saturday, 10am–8pm.
La Marine – Lunch beside the canal
A ten-minute walk from Hôtel Fabric, La Marine is an iconic bistro overlooking the Canal Saint-Martin. A lively terrace by the water, a warm dining room with banquettes and antique mirrors, generous French cuisine — eggs en cocotte with black truffle cream, beef tartare, French onion soup… and homemade desserts that never fail to impress.
Enjoy a relaxed set lunch or a more intimate dinner in a cosier setting. It is an honest, unfussy table that is reminiscent of home cooking, in a neighbourhood that naturally invites you to slow down.
55 bis Quai de Valmy, Paris 10th. 10 minutes on foot from Hôtel Fabric.
Les Imprimeuses – A one-of-a-kind gift to make together
Right opposite Hôtel Fabric, Les Imprimeuses is a creative shop where everything is made before your very eyes: pins, keyrings, T-shirts, personalised gift sets… A graphic and offbeat universe, founded in 2015 and now stocked in over 200 retail outlets across Europe.
For Mother's Day, you can print a bespoke T-shirt, put together a gift set, or simply browse the original creations. A place quite unlike anywhere else in Paris.
4 Rue de la Folie Méricourt, Paris 11th.
La Papoterie – A ceramics workshop for a creative moment together
Just a short stroll from the hotel, La Papoterie is a ceramics café in the 11th where you can enjoy a delicious meal whilst decorating a handcrafted ceramic piece — a plate, a plant pot cover, a jug… All the pieces are produced by French potters, and Laura and Coline guide you with care, even if you don't consider yourself particularly creative.
A convivial and original activity, with a truly handmade keepsake to take home.
3 minutes on foot from Hôtel Fabric. Booking recommended.
And where to stay? Hôtel Fabric welcomes you!
Just a short walk from all of these addresses, Hôtel Fabric is the perfect base for a proper Parisian weekend with Mum. A former textile factory lovingly restored, the hotel combines industrial charm with contemporary comfort in a neighbourhood full of life.
