Two days of fervour and reflection before his apostolic journey continues on to Lourdes and then Metz. Vespers at Notre-Dame, a vigil with young people at the Stade de France, a huge open-air Mass between Concorde and the Champs-Élysées: Paris slows down to make way for several hundred thousand visitors.

How the two days will unfold

Friday 25 September: the day opens with an official welcome at the Élysée Palace and diplomatic meetings, before the Pope takes to the streets of Paris in the popemobile, giving everyone a chance to catch a glimpse of him along the route. In the late afternoon, vespers bring together the French clergy at Notre-Dame, whose forecourt opens to the public for the occasion. The evening continues at the Stade de France, where 75,000 young people aged 17 to 35 are expected for a prayer vigil, with music including a performance from young singer Monroe.
Saturday 26 September: after quieter engagements in the morning, a reception centre in the 18th arrondissement, the Institut Catholique de Paris, the Pope celebrates a solemn open-air Mass in the early afternoon, held between Place de la Concorde and Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Around 500,000 people are expected along this avenue, transformed for the afternoon into an open-air nave. Leo XIV then flies to Lourdes later that day.
